My name is Gavin Zhang, and I come from a small town in China where the rhythm of life still follows the seasons.
As a child, I spent hours watching my grandfather shape the earth with his hands — pottery, small tools, simple objects that carried warmth far beyond their form. He never said much, but his hands told stories: of patience, balance, and respect for the natural world.
Years later, as the world grew faster and louder, I found myself longing for that same quiet — the kind that only comes when your hands are busy and your heart is still.
That’s when I started making things again — small objects at first, crafted from clay, wood, and stone. Each creation brought me closer to nature. I realized that when I shaped the earth, it also shaped me.
Out of this journey, HandTerra was born. The name means “hand” and “earth” — two simple words that hold the essence of what I believe in: the warmth of human touch, and the grounding energy of the earth.
Every piece I make is a conversation between the maker and nature — imperfect, alive, and full of quiet beauty. Through HandTerra, I hope to share this connection with others — a reminder that beauty is not something to chase, but something to feel, in the stillness between our hands and the world.
